Please Use Our Candles Safely
BURNING INSTRUCTIONS /
RECOMMENDED CARE & MAINTENANCE:
- Do not burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
-
After extinguishing and before re-lighting a candle:
Trim the wick to 5mm, and / or remove any length remaining after a curve that turns back towards the wax surface.
-
Remove any lumps of black debris accumulated on the wick. These can cause smoke and an enlarged flame.
-
After extinguishing the candle ensure that the wick is upright, above the wax and central before the wax cools.
-
When the candle flame is extinguished allow the candle container to cool and molten wax to solidify before moving.
-
Keep the candle wax pool free of any foreign materials: matches, wick trimmings, etc.
- The candle can be burned with or without liquid in the heat diffuser.
- The fragrance oil used must be a 100% pure non water-soluable version usually specified as suitable for making candles and use in heat diffusers.
- Do not use reeds in the diffuser as they are designed for slow, passive evaporation and may create a fire hazard or release harmful vapors when heated.
- Add water and fragrance oil only while the candle is not burning,
- If the diffuser is empty allow the container to cool before adding new liquid.
- Remove the diffuser from the candle if it becomes detached from the container wall. (This should never normally happen but could be a risk if the container is knocked or dropped when the wax has burned low).
- Stop burning the candle when only ¼ inch of un-molten wax remains in the container. Excessive heating of the container base can occur when all the remaining wax in the container is molten.
SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS TO PREVENT FIRE AND SERIOUS INJURY:
- Never leave a burning candle unattended and burn it within line of sight.
- Do not fall asleep with a burning candle in the room
- Keep a burning candle away from children and pets.
Keep a burning candle away from flammable items (e.g. paper, curtains, bedding, decorations).
- Avoid leaving a burning candle in draughty areas.
Only burn the candle on a level, heat-resistant surface.
- Extinguish the candle before leaving the room.
- The candle includes a fragrance heat diffuser. Take care not to ignite the fragrance when lighting the candle and take care not to spill the hot fragrance from the diffuser after the candle is extinguished.
- Please follow the instructions given on the ADDING FRAGRANCE page when using the fragrance heat diffuser.
- Discontinue use of a specific fragrance if signs of irritation occur.
- Avoid any skin contact with fragrance liquids and wash immediately with water and detergent if this occurs.
- A burning candle is a source of ignition for any flammable item or substance and due to heat produced it is a potential cause of injury. Consider the location and circumstances before lighting a candle to ensure that no potentially dangerous situation is present that is or is not anticipated in these requirements.
